Role at Splunk is remote and AWS is hybrid in Seattle. Please recommend which is better career growth wise. Are there any companies hiring remote and paying more than my current TC for a mid-level SWE?#tech
Growth and splunk no longer go in the same sentence. Go to Amazon.
Never amazon
What is your YOE?
With Amazon you get screwed for 50% extra. You can go to splunk in two years. Plus 300k base - what's is the sign on? What are you not telling us?
Its 170k base and 130k bonus for first year
Amazon paying all cash now?
After seeing that blind post with the ex-splunk person writing a romance novel about hugging their boss, I’d say go AWS
Check out this post! "Crossed a line with my boss (Tech Industry)" https://www.teamblind.com/us/s/v442T88E
Maybe that guy switched to Amazon and then wrote the post
This depends on your manager and your team. A good manager can be worth so much more than a spike in compensation. Which team do you think you will thrive in? Did you see any red flags? I literally dropped out of a process lately when I had an ex-AWS manager interview. What a self-inflated turd blossom that dude was. Once I realized there was zero way I wouldn't end up PIPed out under his 'leadership,' I knew it was not the place for me.
The engineering competencies and results at Splunk are unbelievably low. Cliques and groups have destructive operating styles and bring down any product development whatsoever to screeching halt. All they want is echo chambers of how it is difficult to get it done, how this is bad, that is bad. A license to do whatever they want to do or not do. That said, Splunk pays high to pretty much do nothing. In any other company, it is not possible. Even the ones doing better, on par or worse. So if you are into that kind of stuff, stay there.
No equity in Amazon ?
Having worked at splunk, it’s the last place you want to be
Why splunker?
