What type of Hindu are you?
After seeing many different types I have created a short list. Same ideas applicable to other religions. Sanatani/Dharmic Hindu - Belief in Hindu theology and Brahma/Vishnu/Shiva ideas of divinity. Hindutvadi Hindu - Proud to belong to worlds oldest culture. Veer Savarkar’s definition of Nationalist Hindu. Casteist Hindu - knew a guy in school who was way more proud to be Brahmin than Hindu. He is still Anti Modi. Adharmi Hindu - Pretending to be Hindu but harbor immense hatred towards Hinduism. Examples: Commies, Naxals, DMK etc. includes crypto Christians. Atheist Hindu - plays both sides as necessary. Even pretends to be Hindu to have license to abuse Hinduism. But barely/rarely follow any Hindu customs, beliefs or any prayers and even lies about it. Bhaijaan Hindu - Gets in line, on their knees when it comes to Pakistan and some peaceful people. Don’t know why they don’t officially convert. Khangress party ideal candidate. Dollar Hindu - Dollar reigns supreme. Dollar Dollar Dollar, greed greed greed. Dollar is the new god. Enough said. Bootlicker Hindu - More accurately Western Bootlicker. Has wet dreams of British days when their ancestors were bootlicking the British. Jumps at any opportunity to defend their western masters while demeaning themselves. Did I miss anything? What type are you? Think hard before voting.

It’s also a religion. More than 2500 years ago when Jainism, Buddhism arrived, Hinduism was forced to define itself. The cardinal rule of Hindu theology is belief in existence of a divine creator AND supremacy of Vedas. This automatically defines Hinduism as a religion. Both points do not exist in Buddhism.
“Arrived”. You’re taking about Vedic Hinduism and then you don’t realize that Buddhism and Jainism were essentially offshoots of hinduism. It’s silly to think of Hinduism like western religions because it’s not one. Hinduism is a religion and a way of life. They are not mutually exclusive. Religion definition is about belief in god and divine creation of all life which Hinduism obviously speaks volumes about it.
It is also said in hinduism that we are one with the supreme divine, he is you, and you are him If you can refine yourself to the highest form, for which the blueprint is following the hindu way of life.. you achieve oneness with the divine (which you may call god) Ofcourse it is rooted in the belief of existence of supreme life force. And even if someone follows the hindu way of life, without believing in God.. they would ultimately realise it, if they are successful in refining themselves to that point. However, I am no one to speak. There hav3 be3n scholars and enlightened men before, who have failed to explain thing.
