Trying to decide if I should get one. Wondering what the thought process was for y'all before you decide to get a pet(s) TC 252k
If you are asking this question then please foster/work with pups at a shelter before getting a pet. A pet is a full time commitment much like a small baby. For goals like conversation starter, getting a date etc a foster pup works equally well and you don’t have to support them long term once goal is accomplished. And if you find a long term meaning after keeping one for a bit, it will be a win win situation all around
None of those reasons are deserving of a pet. Please don’t put animals in those positions. They deserve better
Animals in those positions? People put animals in worse positions...on their plates
you should not get a pet if these are the only things you thought of. Don't get one. You don't deserve them.
What do I need to do to deserve them? Also, what are the things I should have thought of? That's precisely the reason for the post.
you should get a pet because you love them. Cats and dogs deserve love. None of your reasons indicate at all that you actually care about the animals. This post felt like a PRD for a thing to buy to get a target return on investment.
Wanted to put a giant dent into my emergency funds
Pets are a giant waste of money and time
Better than kids at least
Said the guy who was once a kid lol
Coz I just love pets . I don’t have one actually 😅🥲
Hopefully one day she becomes a cat girl
How did you know I just got one?
My dog loves me more than my wife or parents without judgements. I love seeing the excitement on his face when I walk in. Helps me build routine as well.
Dogs help you stay active, meet new people while being active, are great companions, very loving, makes a person more empathetic/kind. They are the best thing after a real child. Also helps with being responsible
Selection bias
Dogs are linked to better health overall and lower risk of dying. https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2019/10/26/773531999/dog-people-live-longer-but-why
