Went through the Power Day process at Capital One. I’m currently a PM at Microsoft. I have ~6 years of experience The base salary for capital one ranges from 163-186k base (NYC) with a bonus range of 0-28,000 (target 50%). How open is Cap1 to negotiation? If I got the upper half of the base salary, I’d be very open. However, I feel like my recruiter mentioned I’d be to the lower half which would be a pay cut. Does anyone have any insight into Cap1 PM Manager offers? #negotiation #offer #capitalone #offers #productmanager #product #pm TC: 200k
Can i have ur Microsoft pm spot
First dont come to Capital One from MSFT. Second, they are somewhat open…they lowballed me and when I told them AFTER the offer that I am taking a pay cut, they quickly threw in 30K
MSFT to C1 is definitely a downgrade, that being said if you can negotiate the high range you should consider taking it. It’s only worth it if you can get the tip top range of the pay band. Otherwise pass, and be bold and tell the recruiter what you want.
Whats the Power Day process like?
Make sure to mention Scaled Agile (SAFe) a bunch of times to pass. Know break even point for some BA case
Congrats! How long did it for you to get a response from CapOne? If it's not scope increase, I would still stay at Microsoft, mainly for the brand name.
very open within the range. use levels.fyi as your reference point. but obviously this is a downgrade from microsoft so not sure i’d recommend unless you’re really bought into the new role
i had less yoe than you and got an nyc offer for a sr mgr role. this comp looks like its manager level?
Do not come to capital one unless you’re desperate. Also, sounds like you should have been leveled into an SM role with 6 YOE and that TC coming from Microsoft. Don’t let them down level you.
They should be open and push for higher end, they’ll cave. Mention how it’s a downgrade in pay etc. MSFT pm is a high quality get so they’ll be inclined to work with you.
