Just trying to get some opinions. I am due for a renewal and had to go to the SF DMV multiple times without getting a clear answer on why they cannot renew my license dispute having my renewed i797a It was suggested (by DMV rep over phone) that I may have a more knowledgeable technician if I go to one of the other locations who handle visa/h1b applicants more regularly. So I ask: which of the Bay Area location should I go to maximize my chances. #workvisa #h1b
DMVs have the dumbest employees.
I go to the SF DMV all the time. What exactly did they say?
The problem is inconsistent/lack of knowledge First worker : did my extension, telling me everything is fine. I get the license in the mail. It’s has my old expiration date I got back to the dmv, another worker : “yeah the first person messed up”, and actually pulled the first worker over to call them out. And then tells me I have to renew my license the day after it expires so it can use my new i797a dates. But that date is a Saturday. Lol
Yeah you cannot extend until your new i797 kicks in. Didn’t check the temporary license form for the expiry date?
San Jose
How is immigration status related to driving license lmao? Everyone gets 5 years license in Cali
1. H1b i797a is 2.5-3 year time periods. So it’s about every other year to renew a license for me 2. If you are on a visa - you are only extended until your legal presence expires
