I have interviews at Zillow coming up for P4 SDE. I have gathered generally that the phone screen will have 1) coding 2) domain specific question And there will be an on-site with a mix of 1) sys design 2)coding 3)behavioral What does the phone screen usually look like? A leetcode medium with a resume based question? Or something more specific than that? And as for the on-site - would it be leetcode mediums and sort of standard system design? (Thinking grokking, url shorter, video service) I’ve been interview prepping with LC for about two months, currently re reading DDIA - want to understand what level of preparation will be necessary- in terms of the difficulty
I do a fair amount of interviews. I don’t use any Leetcode questions for either on-site or the initial tech screen. For the tech screen I ask a series of domain specific questions in all subjects concerning our domain. It’s to get a general feel for your knowledge, level, and experience. The next part of the interview is a small coding challenge that again, tests your knowledge about our area of software engineering and your level. For the on-site interview we do a deeper coding exercise more based on real-world challenges that shows me you can code and deal with a variety of requirements and restrictions. Not every interviewer is the same, so your experience may vary. Good luck to you.
Very much appreciate the candid response - thanks!
