I don’t do much of anything, for 3 years now. I haven’t worked a Friday in years, and never hit more than 5 hours worked in a single day in the same timeline. TC: $300k AMA
Can you do that while at Google?
Hmmmm, depends!
Apparently if you're in sales. SWEs are still gonna get effed pretty hard
At what level? Do you get promotions? How to smartly coast?
Promoted once. L5 now. Trajectory for L6 is down not up.
How do you not get fired?
I do the bare minimum and don’t ask for additional projects to take on. I also take some sort of protected leave once a year to make it harder to get fired.
What is a protected leave? Does it help with getting fewer projects ?

Bruhhhhh refer me to Netflix plzzzzzz
Me too
1. How frequent do you report to Manager? 2. Didn't your manager confront on 1on1 call? Or they are dumb/soft 3. Since you are in sales, the metrics are clear. Then how come you are still under the shadows?
1. I see my manager once a week, for 30-60 minutes. Usually 30 2. Manager is too busy to care, provided I don’t kill the teams sales numbers 3. Sales at Google is easy to cheat on. Plus I’m good at sales.
What are some of your favorite ways to pump your metrics Google-San?

GG sir
OP is in sales, for engineers wondering how this is possible, and why he is only making 300k at L5+
Based OP
Got promoted ? If yes, I am curious which team
Hired as L4, promoted. Moved teams. Started getting too political and back stabbing. My breaking point was after putting in 60 hour weeks and being on track for L6, manager just blind sided me with a bunch of gaslighting. Said fuck this and stopped trying. I’m in sales, that’s all I’ll say.
Can you people add crucial info like role in the op No swe at G that cares to keep their job is dumb enough to actually try coasting since layoffs 1.5 years ago
