China Response to TikTok Ban? Facebook, IG and X are banned in China? (I had no clue)
Just read this article:https://www.ft.com/content/b0b949cd-d1d3-40f5-8a52-beaf3b29badc about the Chinese response to TikTok Ban in the US I didn't realize that China had banned Facebook, IG, and X -- I guess given all that -- it doesn't seem so ridiculous that the US wants to ban TikTok? What do you all think? I feel like if China doesn't let US apps run -- it's fair for the US to do the same What do you all think?

China has no Amazon, Google, Netflix, Pinterest, any of tech companies. Its only fair to make chinese companies only operate in china and not cross its boundary

America holds themselves to a higher standard (whether they meet that is irrelevant). It’s not just tit for tat. Just because China does it doesn’t mean America will automatically do it. They will decide on their own.
Agree. If US acts like China in all these ways, then it should change the political system, too (not saying that it’s not going in that direction, but u get what I mean)

US: if you follow the Chinese law, you can’t operate here. China: if you don’t follow the Chinese law, you can’t operate here. ^^^^ see the difference?

Do you even know why they were banned in the first place? They didn’t want to comply with Chinese data privacy laws. They complied with EU, India, but not China. It’s weird right? Microsoft complied that’s why you can access Bing and LinkedIn in China. But TikTok already complied, the regulators couldn’t find any violations. It’s not tit for tat. It’s just childish and looks very badly on the US “rule of law”
LoL China data privacy doesn't exist, it's you must give all your data to China and let them freely censor anyway they want and let them see your code. And you must choose to "partner" with a state owned company too.
