Hi, I’m having a panel interview with Apple coming up for a Sr UX design position. I have 30 mins presentation round and 6 rounds of 1:1s. Any tips on how to prep for it? Does it also come with design challenge/ whiteboard?
There’s no design challenge, no whiteboard, no app crit. Apple doesn’t waste your or their time with that shit. Have a good deck/keynote with 2, maybe 3 projects (you’re probably good with 2 if it’s 30min) Just be prepared to talk about how you work within your team and outside of your direct design team. So with PMs/engineers/leadership. Talk about your process as a designer, what sets you a part as a creative person from the others. Managers and some higher level ICs might be interested in what you think Apple could be doing better, and your thoughts on areas that could be of value to them or their process. I went through all of this mid last year, a lot of 1:1’s but was a pretty seamless experience.
Be prepared to defend how you test your design if you aren’t going to show it in user testing. Apple doesn’t user test as often as other companies so you need to have good reason how yo judge good design
Product 1:1 will also be brutal so be prepared to speak intelligently about your process and how you will improve their team
All the best!
How did it go, Op? curious about the process and questions asked.
Same here!
How many YOE to get a sr interview at Apple?
