Apple to hire contractors full time?

Hello. I’m currently undergoing an interview process for a contractor position that would be working for Apple in Austin, Texas. So far I’ve only spoken to the recruiting firm, but am meant to have an interview with the Apple folks later next week. The move is mostly lateral for me in terms of the salary range the recruiter told me for the position (~$135K). They don’t assist with relocation and any health benefits would be coming out of my paycheck. Also, I wouldn’t get any PTO as a contractor. This move would really only make sense if I were to be hired on full time. The fact that the whole interview is only going to be an hour long webex conversation gives me pause to whether they would hire me full time or not. How often do Apple convert contractors to full time employees? Is this something I should consider or should I wait for a position that’s full-time? YOE: 6 TC: $130K

Don’t join Apple as contractor.. they don’t get the benefits but work overtime all the time

Wouldn’t working overtime for a contractor ideal if they want the extra bucks?

The contractors I know don’t get overtime

There are no guarantees. However the team might interview you if a FT position opens up for your level of experience. You might have to go through the entire interview process like every other candidate.

I was converted to FTE. Feel free to PM me. Generally speaking, it won't happen for most. You need to deliver consistently, have a manager who *wants* to convert you, who will fight for headcount, and then have headcount actually open up. Right place, right time sort of thing.

Small "core" of FTEs who worked closely with a much larger group of vendors. Maybe 1:5 ratio. Team was growing steadily but mostly vendors being hired. Myself and some vendors who had been there for 2+ years were approached about converting. Had to go through the whole interview process, and not everyone made it.

Join some company as full time employee dude, never join as a contractor unless that's the only job you got.

AVOID. - you will be treated as second class citizen - they will dump the req when job is done - even if you manage to get an FTE roll after slogging 16 hours a day, they will low ball you hard
