Is twilio in trouble?

I read news about low growth. Although I think their business is interesting. They did a lot of layoff already. What’s next for them?

Oh brother this guy again!

Another layoff

Twilio KeQe71 Feb 20

Most likely yet another large layoff while the people in charge remain and are not held accountable for the mess they've created.

Rippling, we are going down for sure. Don't try to peek what's going on with us, bad karma rubs quickly, and it will get y'all. Remember SVB incident, you could have got buried and jobless obernight if not for the bank rescue. Look out your back and keep your prayers going.

We're not doomed, but tough times are ahead

I don’t understand. The business looks promising for me.

Rippling AGqX67 OP Feb 20

It should be easy to sale and low churn

Twilio twilzers Feb 20

The problem is we're not profitable yet. So to get there things will likely have to change. I am in Segment, which loses even more money than the business as a whole.

Rippling AGqX67 OP Feb 20

Were you old segment or hired after merge?

Rippling AGqX67 OP Feb 20

Segment is also a mature business for me

Twilio xUwt53 Feb 20

Everyone I know who left Twilio/Segment for Rippling was incredible. Since you’re showing an interest in the dumpster fire our company has become, I’m getting the vibe you may have been one of them. I miss you, whoever you are.

Thank you

Segmenter with long tenure here (well before acquisition). Twilio made some bad moves in the acquisition, both related to how we go to market and product vision/focus. Result was taking our eyes off the competitive threats while building a product for an already saturated market and underestimating how long it would take to get there. Meanwhile, we lost great talent and had people in leadership roles who just haven’t ’done it’ before. They didn’t see the cracks forming. Now the market has changed and companies are willing to pay for piecemeal, bandaid solutions rather than invest in a full blown CDP as they strive for profitability as well. We aren’t that solution. There is hope to turn the ship around, but it will take leadership changes and years of hard work/refocusing on our core product and sales motion, IMO.

Anyone move from Twilio to Rippling and like it better? Culture seems pretty toxic from what I read on blind
