Need $10M to be comfortable retiring
🤣
If they want to be comfortable chilling in Los Altos, yes they need 10M
I'd argue 10M is the bare minimum to "retire comfortably" with a house in Los Altos, if you have a couple kids.
Blind or inflation?
When you have a 10mil NW because you own a 9mill bouse
Definitely delusional. $50M or work for ever
What’s a good number to retire in your 30s then?
This entirely depends on your own situation. For myself, yes 10M is minimum. I am looking to buy a forever home in a few years (~5M + reno). Retiring comfortably means a nest egg that generates our projected spending conservatively. With 4% 10M only generates 300k - 350k per year (1-2M is house equity that doesn't generate income) that's not even covering all the expenses. Projected 250k housing, 100k kids and 100k other expenses. So unfortunately we'll have to keep working until we reach 10M, then maybe one of us can quit.

As you get older, you will realize liberals are full of shit
If someone believes they can only be comfortable in opulence, then they may be correct from that mindset. But they're also putting a really low value on their lifestyle and free time which is a bit sad.
