I applied for the Software Engineer II role and reached the final stage of the interview. I’ve never given a System Design interview before but have been preparing through YouTube videos. What does Expedia generally ask in the System Design round? Also, what topics are a must for DSA questions? PS. Interview in 3 weeks YOE: 2.5 #tech #softwareengineer #expediagroup #expedia #systemdesign #leetcode
I remember it being a very easy system design round. I read Alex Xu’s book and it was more than enough prep. GitHub SD primer was helpful too. I received offer, and am not good at System Design. Good luck.
Hey may I know which role did you interview for?
I finished my OA last week and got all the test cases passed I didn't receive a feedback yet. How long did it take for them to contact you after the OA?
Didn’t have any system design personally, but some people do. It’s pretty straightforward generally.
Like hotel booking or something?
What were some of the behavioral questions asked and what do they look for in answers? I have my final round on Tuesday
It will be a high level design question with a bit of diagramming. Biggest critical component is to answer the probing questions thoroughly and explain your thought process in depth. Be prepared to answer probing Q’s on latency, traffic, SQL vs NoSQL etc.
