For those of you who have been through a PIP, how did you cope? What steps did you take to turn things around?
At first, I felt overwhelmed and demoralized, I wasn't sure how to handle the situation and how it would affect my job longer term. It made me seriously question my abilities and hurt my self confidence... I ultimately realized it just was not the right role or team for me and I ended up resigning and finding a job elsewhere. Iโm much happier where I am now.
Iโm glad you found a better opportunity! What made you realize it was a mismatch for you?
I have never been in a PIP, but I believe it is important for the employee to understand the expectations in the PIP and openly discuss if they are durable. For a manager and HR, I imagine it would be crucial to explain that the primary goal is to help the employee, not dismiss them.
๐ฏ agree on the need for clear communication on expectations and the goal of the PIP. You touched on something key which I often see people forget to do with PIPs.. making it an open conversation is so important to ensure alignment on objectives and to create a plan that is reasonable and attainable for the employee.
