They got a 10M $ funding. I’m curious what their path to monetization and profitability looks like? #langchain #openai #llm
Why do they need a path to monetization when they have $10M?
Maybe I’m not articulating the question appropriately. Aren’t they interested in generating revenue? Is the plan just to provide open source software to the rest of the world for free?
90%+ of startups created during a hype cycle don't last. I wouldn't be too surprised if they never made any money
I think most OOP that makes money from donations? In many forms - user donation, company sponsorship, ad sponsorship, etc. Or bought by a company.
Since when did early stage startups require a monetization model. For AI especially, VCs are probably still in the zero interest rate mood. Eventually though, I'm guessing Langchain will move towards a similar model as other matured companies built around open source like MongoDB to MongoDB Inc,, Apache Spark to Databricks, etc
Who funded it? Google, meta and all fund a lot of open source projects. They basically then develop stuff that align more with them.
