I know it is a mental health issue and I am trying to change my mindset!! Having said that I am an Asian and I am kinda biased against Whites in general. Dont have any kinda feelings for / against blacks or browns though!! It all started when I got outta school and my first job was in the remote redneck / hillybilly area of Northern California at the height of Trump era. I had no friends in almost 98% white population and for 3 years they have treated me badly. Long stories on this one after 3 years of suffocating life over there till I completely moved outta that place. When I came in US, as most people I was pro American / pro whites but they turned me against em. It started to grow on me as I first started to ignore em and then slowly turned that ignorance into haterate. I was aware that its not good thing but now I believe my mindset in just very judgemental against all of em. I kinda see em as over priviledged idiots who likes to mooch the system but there are some part of me that says change your view, its not healthy. #mentalhealth #racism UPDATE : This is NOT A TR0LL POST. It is a serious issue.. Tr0llers can keep themselves aware from this.. it is much bigger societal issue than your brain can accomodate !! Thanks
TC OR GTFO. I am an equal opportunity discriminator.
No one's pro white or black when they come to the US (or Atleast I wasn't) . I was just pro me(meaning I came for a better life for myself). That's probably a start at not being biased.
Change your view, I have seen some rude and unethical asians at work, but I too found great caring asian friends! Race has nothing to do with the way you behave, stop generalize people by race and color.
Unfortunately in 3 years of my time over there, I wasnt able to get a single one who were kinda friendly !! So I had very hard time there... so I believe all of em are same
If you didnât meet a single white person who was nice/friendly, then the problem wasnât the people, it was you. Most people, especially in the south, are inherently nice. Contrary to popular belief and a mainstream agenda, most white people arenât racist individuals. Not many people will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable or welcomed, but if you wanted to make friends with a white person then you could have. You are the only common denominator.
It's fine. Many people idolize white americans and shit while white Americans could not give a shit less about our brown asses. Go ahead and be biased because it runs both ways.
Follow this advice if you are ok with harboring hate for millions of people^^^. Absolutely ridiculous...
I really enjoy my Indian friends and coworkers. But some people are jerks and give them all the crap work too. Great and interesting people. Just gotta understand and not fear people. Love people and enjoy them
My heritage is swiss, german, norweigen and english so white is fine. I think it is really neat how you see an issue with feeling this way. Sorry people were not nice to you. Hope you find some friends that can help. Sounds like you hate what you think white people are because you dont have a different experience yet. Good luck
I have a terrible image of Germans in particular. I kinda have very low tolerance for anyone who is remotely associated with German in particular. Having said that, there are lots and lots of Nazi's @ Lake Tahoe area.. for some to make friends and others to avoid !!
Wtf? Nazis in the Tahoe area? GTFO you troll. Seriously.
I think a lot of it may just be different cultures. Whites very much have a âsucceed at all costs and screw everyone elseâ mentality thatâs been drilled into them since birth. Some of the later generations are a little bit better but those in their 40s or older now definitely have that. It may not be a race thing - it may just be a âwe hate everyoneâ or âstep on whoever you have to in order to get aheadâ thing. That being said, race can play a factor too. Whites in their 30s-50s in tech REALLY hate Indians as itâs felt they stole all the tech jobs. A buddy I know (whose white and late 30s) flat out admits it - but had to watch a lot of his friends lose their jobs and twice their lives (suicide from depression) because of outsourcing/offshoring. In addition they view Indians as very racist against them - see all the stories about white employees suddenly under an Indian manager and the whites are let go and replaced with Indians from the managerâs home area. Those stories are very rampant. Some are probably true. White males especially feel extremely targeted by all the different forms of diversity type events. Being told repeatedly that youâre bad and you need to step aside for everyone who isnât a straight white male is the perception they have. How close that is to reality differs. All of these are broad strokes, but my random thoughts.
I think that could be true, because those who have become managers are here from a long time.. which means, they might have faced the same kinda shit I faced? which turned those Indian Managers against them.. They could be holding a silent grudge rather than being like me and comming out in the forum like this !!
Lol are you referring to Amazon? đ
I have developed similar biases overtime but against Indians specifically and itâs something that I am actively trying to fight, similarly to you. Iâm white so feel free to hate me haha đ . But basically, 1. I went to high school in a district that had about a 50% Indian population and I canât even express to you how many times I heard from my peers that âoh sorry Iâm not allowed to hang out with you because youâre white and my parents think youâll be a bad influence. You understand, right?â Or âI had to choose them because theyâre Indian. You know how it is.â It made it difficult to make friends because I was in all the accelerated classes and those were predominantly Indian. 2. In college I participated in a âfast trackâ program where I could finish my masters in one year after my bachelors. The demographics in the masters classes were about 95% international students and of those, the majority were from India. It was hard, HARD to find students that did not cheat. There were so many students that constantly tried to cheat off me, it was ridiculous. These are just two examples of things that just made me crazy jaded. I work with a ton of people from India now and I likely will continue as long as I stay in this field. Every time I meet someone new I try to challenge the biases that have built up over time and I just hope that as I continue to meet more people who donât fit the biases that they will fade away. Anyway, I know this was a long winded response, but I typed up all that to say that I think a lot of people end up with negative biases about a race that are based on their experiences. I wish there was an easy way to get rid of those biases, but I think itâs just one of those things that takes time and active mental management.
hmm Make sense.. yea even during my masters I had similar issues with Indians .. as they gang em and cheat / share workloads for assignments.. but those were very much non existent issues for me. I kinda felt way more active persecutions during my time there. Some of em into physical level too.. like body shaming kinda shit.. and 3 years if a long time to see how they are in general.
Gawd. I don't want this guy in management đ
You came to the US during a time when anti-White sentiment was being pushed through the every medium. Itâs understandable that youâd be swayed by the propaganda. Treat everyone as an individual and leave race out of the equation.
This is what I wanna feel .. I mean it.. To be neutral, I think I was pro em which came with a higher expectation and it went on hell of a negative.. I just wanna be neutral whatsoever.. I just need a mechanism to bring my mind back to that.. looking forward to it very much
There are good and bad people of all races. Whenever I meet someone new, I hold back subconscious bias of their race and get to know the person as an individual. Next thing you know, either they're cool and I'd be down to hang out with them again or avoid them.
I imagine the experience a white person living in rural india or china might be similar
Which is not True !! My hometown is a very touristy place and we have seen may whites come / join us and some they live there, leaving their own country. They have become a very humble after they took our culture.. which means they kinda have better experience and acceptance by locals .. otherwise they would have fled
You canât believe how good white people be treated in Asia⌠seriously
