Excluding personal interest and immigration reasons, does an MS in Computer Science ever make sense from a financial/career perspective? Particularly if you have a BS and some years of experience.
If you got a BS in CS and don’t wanna be an ML Eng, then no, it’s not worth it. Otherwise probably

If BS was in CS, then not worth it. If BS was in another field, MS in CS would allow you to switch easier and worth it.
MS/PhD are important for theory. If you’re a practitioner it’s not worth it.

It will be increasingly important. The divide between entry level and professional positions will grow greater as these LLMs become more more prevalent.
From what I’ve heard a masters is not enough to make a meaningful impact on your prospects though. I’ve been told to contribute to the LLM wave you have to be the best of the best, otherwise the degree is next to useless. Curious to hear other people’s experiences though. I’ve heard this from two people only.
