I joined Zillow at its peak and it’s only gone down ever since. I’m now contemplating moving out to another company. I love the culture and the WFH benefits, but the refreshers are disappointing and the promises of growth have been oversold to us. I wonder if it is time to move on and start looking outside. I’ve heard “macroeconomic conditions” as an excuse for years at this point. I also feel that my skill development and growth has been limited here. Is there any point in staying back? Is anyone from Zillow getting promising recruiter calls? TC: 290K after stock drop, 6 YOE
The job market is not great right now. I wouldn’t make a move. You will likely be competing for offers with many laid off people.
Markets terrible right now. Minimal hiring, massive competition, tons of layoffs. Most are RTO, and new offers are lowballs compared to 2021/2022. So if you do choose to hop, know what market is right now. It's better then 2023...but not by much.
What you’re saying is just like where I am. “Many growth opportunities in the near future” and yet it seems that I joined a year too late. Now I’m trying to pivot to Data Science elsewhere. Zillow was on my radar because I enjoy real estate stuff
What's your level?
wishful thinking. good luck getting a job!
Let’s swap
Why not see what's out there, if something better is actually available to you then reevaluate....don't make decisions of job postings
I would stay. Finding a remote or hybrid job right now is very difficult. Enjoy the perks.
Imm debating moving too. Way more experience but comp is only 250-290k range depending on where options land. My job is insanely cushy at the moment though and I can wfh most days

Op before you go or not, could you give me a referral? Maybe we can be coworkers 😬
Better yet, let know when you leave, I want to take your place. Zillow is a paradise compared to whats out there. Speaking from personal experience, I worked at Zillow. I wish I can go back some day. Here I make more money but pay for it thru the nose with peace of mind and personal time.
