Hello, is it embarrassing if your manager is same age, younger or bit older? I like working under her. But my friend told me it makes me look bad and I should switch teams or company. My name is a reflection of current economy FYI. Tc 190K
As long as you donât mind being under her, you good
No. It is not awkward. It is only awkward of you or your manager is not matured enough to understand that being manager is just a job role. It doesnt mean that you are THE King. If your manager is not matured enough than leave but if it is you than please stay and stay calm.
Itâs usually not a good thing in your early career. It happens more frequently in management levels - like a lot m1/m2 are older than their boss. But like IC levels lower than m1 probably wonât be a good experience. Those comments will most likely tell you age doesnât matter, but I saw a couple cases in Faang that some new PHD graduates (>30) reported to some managers younger than them (younger than 30). They all turned to really bad experience.
Bruh, I'm solidly in my 30's and my manager is like, idk, 27 or 28? Didn't even think about it until now. Probably would be a little awkward if it was like a 20 year gap, or if you were an L3, but I don't think it matters if you're within 10
No.
Why does it matter? Age means nothing? Fucking rockstars that rockets to L7 in 5 years exist while majority of people are stuck on 5. If anything I like a younger manager, they are usually less salty and willing to go to bat for me.
My friend did not tell me directly but I think he was trying to say it makes me look like underachieving underperforming person..hard to gain respect that kind of thing
Your friend is full of shit. Age isnât the key here, the personâs maturity is.
I like working under her > That's what she said đ
Why would she say that She gay?
What in the world are you talking about? CEO's these days are kids so everyone in that company should quit ?
Your friend is stupid.
Sometimes you gotta be on top too, my friend
I meant reporting to her..
Sure you didâŚ
