Microsoft hire someone with misdemeanor?
I’m currently very close to getting an interview opportunity at Microsoft for a senior program manager position. I received a fourth degree (lowest level) misdemeanor a couple of years ago and was wondering if that would affect my ability to get a job there. I’ve googled online but really only found answers to people with a felony. Thanks. #Misdemeanor
Doubtful they care
Normally no, but theft even at that level is sometimes grounds for a no-hire. If you’re worried just ask them lol - most times that gives you a chance to explain and more than likely they don’t care unless it’s a violent or sexual crime.
Do not reveal this information if you want a job. Let them run their background check and if it passes, never mention it. Most HR departments cannot risk the liability of hiring a person while knowing they had a criminal background, whether violent or otherwise.
Usually the background check only covers felonies, wants and warrants and a credit check.
I have an arrest record and was hired fwiw (and literally just passed background check today lol)

Happened 2 years ago and I pled out last year.
They’re not going to care. I’ve hoped around a bunch and no one cares about a misdemeanor I got in college.
They won’t care. You will clear background.
You will never hear these words: “Don’t worry, your arrest over a bar fight is no problem because you told us about it in advance.” Never willingly give evidence against yourself.
This is misleading advice. Never divulge information without being asked. But if you are asked directly: “have you been arrested?/convicted misdemeanor” always answer truthfully. But yea dont tell that funny bar fight story in the interview either

went out for my wife’s 40th to watch the UFC Mcgregor fight. It was at a bar/gaming location. After the fight we danced a bit and I went to the bathroom and when I got back to the dance floor a bunch of people were surrounding my wife and a chick literally pushed her down. I ran over and pushed the female out of my wife’s way and a guy from the group came up and I did what I had to do to protect myself. Since the waitress only saw the commotion after my wife was pushed down she only saw me punching. There was only 2 of us and probably 8 of them in their late 20’s. Cops came and took ME away since they all said I started it. Apparently it all started because my wife accidentally bumped into that girl on the dance floor.
What a story! We need more posts like this here.
