Hi, can you please evaluate for my friend who is about to enter the salary negotiation stage at Microsoft? Base: 124,900 Stock: 11,000 (4 years) Performance bonus (min 20%) TC: ~152,000 annually YoE: 11 years Location: Bay Area Could you please evaluate and advise on how much they should negotiate? #microsoft #microsoftsalary
They can do a soft negotiation, trade signing the offer for some kind of comp bump. They should jump on that imo.
Way too low
Can you give an update? IME all TWs have been v-dashes—curious how the offer came about and what part of the org… Also, salary can be considered reasonable for YOE, depending on where the position sits. If in less technical / dev space, this is quite high. If in dev / engineering / cybersecurity or the like, this is good for a senior writer. To get past about $150K, for example, one would have to manage content for an org or manage a team of writers—unless the writer physically sits in, or the job originates from a HCOLA.
You don't need to be in office to hit over 150k. I get over 300k 100% remote. I don't manage anyone.
You get over $300K as a technical writer? Are you also a dev? I wasn’t talking about being in office.

Lol, I can't believe the position pays that much
What about it is unbelievable? Is it a question of value the role provides? Genuinely curious.
