DMN - does not meet expectations at Intuit, we may or may not be given PIP, can be let go this month. 👋 TLDR : i am DMN,I want to quit my toxic leadership, and re-enter job market in 2 months. Is that wise / silly? Given job market American Citizen. MTV No FMLA ( just not for me, process sounds stressful, nothing against folks taking it) I dislike my vampire manager & the skip doesn’t support me. I have challenged the manager several times. I had a random performance conversation this week. So I guess I am at the bottom %. This feeling is terrible. Apparently my rating is set in stone, finalized. We are a single income household, with 2 kids, wife, so financially strapped. I prefer not dealing with this toxicity. For those who have been interviewing or have moved out because of performance ratings / PIP . How is the job market for an experienced engineer? PS : I cannot even imagine how stressful a forced PIP nonsense is for folks on H1B, I have a lot of empathy for you folks. #engineering #pip #jobmarket #swe
Similar situation (not at LinkedIn). Manager provided feedback with performance not meeting expectations and assigned different tasks. Not sure at my company of they do PIP so just worried.
Is it true or did manager make shit up?
Tech is not a career for long term stability in which you can support a wife and kids.
Very f*cking true
Wrong. You should easily have $100k in liquid assets to handle layoffs
Coast, let them terminate you. There is no negatives being terminated unless you stole from the company, etc. Start interviewing now, say you'll finish tasks but coast. You cannot clear PIP, don't let the stress affect your personal life.
Intuit is such a piece of sh*t man, take it easy brother, I have gone through HELL there. Ping me for MSFT, Good Luck!!
+1 !
Best of luck my friend, whatever market situations is you’ll find a place which even out everything for you.
Can you refer me to Intuit?
Market is really bad. You will get calls but the bar is high as lot of good engineers are on clock of h1b. So competition will be fierce. Depends how much time are you ready to put in this.
I have no empathy for H1B. It's a temporary visa. Why people try to create permanent lives here on a temporary visa is beyond me
@capital one were you on h1b?
Sorry to hear that, and glad you can understand our pain on H-1B 😊 I’d honestly advise you to stay put, put in the min effort required to make it look like you’re not coasting, and start interviewing. Since you have a family, I’d recommend you don’t quit your job or even make it look like you’re done. It’s a tough job market so I think you should respect the difficulty and play this one safe.

Black, and thinking of voting for Biden?
My friend was in same boat. Based on his experience, things just go downhill. He waited for stock vesting and he left. He said no matter what he did, his manager would always claim he was not meeting expectations.
Sounds exhausting.
