Kamala Harris - The face of murder pardoning and defund the police
I see a lot of people in tech who make a ton live like they are in near poverty for most of their working years. But you got to understand that even if you live to a 100, you only have about 1000 months, and a ton of that is during your childhood and old age. So you really only have a limited amount of time to have amazing experiences and truly live. Every month wasted is significant. Remember that this matters more than the difference between having 5 million or 16 million in stocks/bonds by the time you are 50-60. This won't be a meaningful difference especially compared to the experiences you had between 18-50. TC: 230k
Wow. Judgement much? Are you so perfect that you can dole out this "advice" to a generalized group so easily? Is it confidence, narcissism or racism at this point?
@Atlassion Chill this guy is right. My parents are Indian surgeons and worked like crazy to accumulate 18 million in net worth, but they are in their early 60s now and experiencing health issues and can't do much with their money... Honestly, it makes me quite sad to see.
They just want their kids to truly live as they as parents are already content living frugally.
Ppl who agree with this don’t need somebody else to teach. Ppl who don’t agree with this, not gonna listen to what others say. So basically you are wasting time posting this thing
Usually these kinds of posts don't change minds overnight, but if people read similar ideas enough they will gradually start to take it more seriously.
Hey pal, Kris Kristofferson sang about this feeling back in the 70s: https://youtu.be/faF0wOsVucw If it’s worth saying, it’s worth it to keep singing! > And you still can hear me singin' > To the people who don't listen > To the things that I am sayin' > Prayin' someone's gonna hear > And I guess I'll die explainin' how > The things that they complain about > Are things they could be changin' > Hopin' someone's gonna care
I agree, but there's a middle point - layoffs are a very real thing so you still need to have a decent emergency fund, so don't live to the absolute limit either
Need advice from people who’ve lived through the 2008 crash, how big is a good enough emergency fund? Can’t be the recommended 6 months, seems too short of a runway.
All in moderation. 2008 sucked. A lot of people foreclosed on their homes and had to downsize based on the work they could get. The emergency fund just helps you keep the house a bit longer and gives you more time to figure out what to do.
Thank you. This is a kind share. ❤️
OP I agree in part. I think life is what we make of it. Doesn't have to feel short. Living a good life can make it feel long. Living a bad life can also make it feel long. The balance is different for each person, and living a whole, good life makes it worth it. I've haven't found my balance yet. Lol. Way too far from it.
Spend about like 80k/year (family of 4) in MCOL area. Feels perfectly ample. It just happens to be tiny compared to my household income and NW
Life is too long. But I agree, frugality is laughable.
Finally a post that is worth saving
Agreed, your life won’t be as great when you’re old. Can’t travel the same, can’t socialize the same, can’t eat the same. I think making good investments is more important than just being thrifty and saving. If you can turn savings into passive income you can use that extra income to live well without digging into other savings.
