Anyone remember when MS held funeral of iPhone before the launch of Windows phone? How did that turn out? 😂😂
What’s the point of your post?
I really liked windows phones. Nokia had some really great phones running windows OS. I wished they didn’t shut it down.
The problem was not the phone. The problem was that no devs wanted to develop for windows because there was no support from MS to make up for low users.
MS paid devs to port their apps to Windows Phone. I remember seeing ads on Stackoverflow saying that they would pay up to $2k or $10k. Or maybe that was just advertising credit? I also worked for a company that was paid by Amazon to list our app in their Appstore and add support for Fire Phone.
Microsoft’s never been good at humility lol
Well, Ballmer era was crazy AF.
I still miss those big live tiles
Yes, I loved the windows phone UI, sad it didn't live long
Developing any windows apps is a nightmare.
How come?
It's really cool that a company would hold a silly skit like that. It's good for morale and good ribbing between competitors. How it panned out years later doesn't matter much.
Where are they now, we need to know
Probably the same way as Amazon drone delivery.
Salty. Amazon never held funeral for USPS
Violence 🤣
One of the most cringe things Microsoft did and that’s saying a lot for the cringiest company in tech.
I dunno, I kinda dig the lightheartedness. Having one of those CEOs that seriously believes they are changing the world is much more cringe to me than a good-natured skit.
Copilot in every corner isn't cringe?
It ended with a funeral of Windows Phone!
