Hello, I've been applying for data analytics related roles and have gotten no luck. Please go hard and give complete honest feedback (roast) on my resume. I am a relatively new grad ('22) and have been working in the same job since graduating. Looking for roles (and referrals) in the bay area and charlotte/raleigh area. Questions: 1. Please give honest feedback about resume 2. Is this resume currently good enough to get hired? 3. Is it worth it adding Certifications? (i.e. Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate, IBM Data Science Professional Certificate) TC: $90k + $10k sign on bonus (OT Eligible) YOE: 2 (3 if including year long internship) Thank you in advance! #data #datascience #dataanalytics #referral #microsoft #slack #paypal #facebook #twitter #dropbox #amazon #atlassian #google #workday #youtube #instacart #square #faang #aon #tesla #datadog #snowflake #rubrik #bloomberg #stripe #snap #lyft #uber #spotify #apple #robinhood #yelp #vmware #adobe #capitalone #cisco #kpmg #coinbase #dell #docusign #doordash #expediagroup #ebay #expedia #glassdoor #ibm #intuit #nvidia #pinterest #salesforce #sap #mongodb #servicenow #airbnb #cmegroup #avanade #splunk #figma #twilio #yext #qualtrics #discovery #linkedin #compass #cvs #aetna #mckinsey #salesforce #americanexpress #wayfair #walmart #americanairlines #americanfamilyinsurance #bankofamerica #jpmorgan #jpmorganchase #target #tigeranalytics #fractalanalytics #hartfordhealthcare #bluecrossblueshield #visa #discoverfinancialservices #netflix #brex #roblox #oracle #zillow #bytedance #palantir #asana #morningstar #citi #layoff
Looks good just keep going, how much have you applied to? Also you probably should get rid of the courswork/school projects
Thanks! I’ll say 100+ since start of the year (I’ve been applying here and there). I can’t say I’m 100% qualified for each job listing either tho. I’ve also been doing “Easy Apply” thru LinkedIn and I feel like it goes straight to the trash lol. Dang so it’s obvious they were basically school projects lol should I replace them with more current projects I had in mind of doing or eliminate project section in general?
Can help you with a 1hr session just on resume but actually don’t feel like doing it for free lol Here’s a free one: I’d move education to the top, only list experience first when you are a senior or at least with FLAG/large tech (even intern) experience
Thank you! I appreciate the free tip.

Why do Germans and other Europeans keep saying they have better quality of life compared to America?
UC Berkeley is a good sign. Your current job just doesn’t seem to focus on actual analysis, it seems more like Business Intelligence or Analytics Engineer. You should push for projects with real recommendations communicating tradeoffs based on analysis and not just dashboard creation/maintenance. Enough to get hired? Yes as a junior. Focus on real analytics in order to upskill as a professional and not a student. Certs are fine to add. If I don’t have existing knowledge of the cert tho then I don’t care as much as professional experience.
I really appreciate the time and effort for your feedback. It sounds like certs aren’t worth adding unless industry known and I should focus on projects that allow me to provide real decision-making that’ll impact the business based on my analysis. I feel like the sustainability project I led was pretty impactful for the business but to your point I did not “recommend” anything… if anything I just shed light on stuff lol Thank you very much kind stranger!
