Robinhood Karat interview design portion

Anyone who has done the robinhood Karat virtual interview, share what the architecture interview is like? Recruiter said study distributed concepts but online I've found questions about how to debug those problems. I haven't used much distributed in real world. Am I screwed?

Its like speed running system design questions I found it strange. I passed but I can imagine if you dont have experience it will be hard.

Ah I'm screwed then. I'll take it as learning experience then. Thanks

How’d it go OP?

Google SUNDAR_DOG May 2, 2021

They just rapid fire random questions. Honestly the hardest part was trying to read the entire question and understand it within the allotted time. The actual questions were easy, like do you know what strong consistency is vs weak consistency?

Tbh not really. I haven't prepared much for sys design. I will read through the primer and remember as much as I can. Thanjs

How was the interview? Can you share about your experience?

Since a few people have reached out i'm guessing posting my experience here and everyone can benefit. I did a L2 interview with karat. It had about 20 mins of system design/distributed systems and 35 minutes of coding. The 20 mins was essentially 3 speed rounds on random questions. I had a question which gave random scenarios and asked what consistency they were. You won't have to do a system design but you'll need to know the concepts. My advice is to know the stuff here: https://github.com/donnemartin/system-design-primer#system-design-topics-start-here and you should be good. The coding round was implementing a few coding questions I had. IMO it wasn't super leetcode style but you might need some tricks from leetcode answers. I didn't find it too tough. My understanding is that they care less about runtime and more on communication and coding cleanly. i randomly found this: https://juejin.cn/post/6844904085913600008. I didn't get a question from there but the data used in my question was one of those examples. i guess be familiar with how to use it? If there are other questions, comment them below and I'll respond as much as I can

Oh since people might ask, yes i went to onsite and I didn't get the offer. Onsite is very standard imo (1 coding, 1 system, 1 behavioural). I panicked and messed up a round. Your recruiter will break it down for you and let you know what they are looking for.

Was the coding round on-site similar to the problems given in the Karat round?
