Is TN visa better than H1B for long term perspective ? Any pros and cons of each ? #workvisa #h1b #tnvisa #usa #canada
H1B is easier when going for a green card, and provides a path to allow your spouse to work sooner. If you’re working remotely far away from your office, you need to add that to your work location. Generally, H1B is better but it doesn’t make a difference for a lot of people.
I recently went from TN to H1B, feel free to pm me if you have a specific question at all
Thx. Isn't TN renewal easier when compared to H1 and less hassle for employers and easy to switch around ?
I believe you aren’t supposed to apply for PERM if you are on TN. You do get unlimited renewals but you might start getting questioned when entering the country since it’s a temp work visa.
Yeah, the term unlimited is not very true. TN is at the mercy of CBP always!
TN: + Quick processing at the border + No annual cap - Not dual intent (non-immigrant visa) - Only available to Canada and Mexico citizens for certain professions H1B: + Available to any country and almost any professions + Dual intent (path to permanent residency) - Has an annual cap - If you lose your job you need a new sponsor
Grey area around how many times TN can be used with existing or new employers without causing issues at the border.
Yes! True.
If you want green card get H1B, if you don’t, get TN. Since green card processing takes forever even with priority date, with TN you can’t leave the country but with H1B you can
So, no vacations with TN ?? 😞
While your green card is processing exactly. During Adjustment of Status (18-24 months depending on processing center) you can’t leave the US
TN is excellent as long as you stay IC. But you’ll never be able to take people’s manager role with it, so get H1b or Green Card as soon as you can.
