I’m finally in the market for a luxury watch and for as long as I can remember, everyone I talked to about buying watches always told me to make the first one a Rolex. They told me that no one regrets buying a Rolex and that there is a reason Rolex has the “crown”. For context, I’m prepared to spend around 7/8k. I’m looking at some simple, clean day dates and maybe the 36 explorer (pic of friends attached). Is this true? Has anyone ever regretted making their first watch a rolex? Ever bought one and regretted it? If it wasnt a rolex, what was your first watch??
What is so great about a Rolex? Genuine question.
I think people buy rolex for a bunch of different reasons. 1. Brand Recognition- Some buy a rolex to be seen and to show thier status. 2. Resell Value - Rolex is one of like four brands that can secure a premium even if used. Generally they retain. their value. 3. Craftsmanship/heritage/style - Not the oldest, not the most technical, not the most “impressive” from a build standpoint but Rolex was the first for a few different important watch trends and they are by far the most iconic brand.
Yes. You can't go wrong with Rolex.
Did you buy one for your first?? If so why? and why has it been a good choice?
