Reddit just did mass layoffs in the data science org today. Not sure about the total number, but estimating at least 50-100 people impacted. Not posting from Reddit account for anonymity. #tech #reddit #layoffs #datascience
50-100 from DS org? Thatās lot
Not sure.
DS was probably 80 total, so no it's not 50-100 from DS alone - I'd expect maybe 10-20 (which would still be significant)
Wow, how many were in the DS org prior to layoffs?
What about engineering?
Those are rookie numbers.
100 people is 5% of the company
That's rookie numbers - we did 20% last August lol
"Mass layoff", "50-100" haha šš
I thought ML space is hot, no?
they had more than 100 employees?

!! Ouch.!! Was on a plane with someone who quit Twitter to join DS team at Reddit just last month.
thatās called winning the lottery, most likely got 2 severances stacking
If they quit twitter they didn't get a severence

Wow they were hiring last year like crazy
That's always how it goes. Every company which was 'hiring like crazy' last year is now firing like crazy.
Very rarely will the rapid hiring and firing happen in the same teams.
