A couple weeks ago I posted this ๐๐พ โI just got a new grad offer from Microsoft for a TPM. I worked for them as an intern last summer but didnโt get a return offer due to head count so I went through the recruitment process again and got hired again. This is what they offered so far. Iโm currently interning at Google as an APM but I donโt know if Iโm getting a FT return offer yet so I canโt use that to negotiate. and the only other FT offer I have is less than Microsofts. What should I counter with, if I counter at all. I have 3x internship experience if it makes any difference. Thanks! โ They initially offered Base pay: $118,400 Sign on: $30,000 over 2 yrs RSU: $100,000 over 4 yrs After negotiation they came back with Base: $118,400 Sign-on: $50,000 over 2yrs RSU: $120,000 over 4yrs. Iโm ready to accept this as this is more than i ever imagined i could get but I just wanted to check here and make sure since Iโm not experienced in negotiations and stuff. Thanks!
Take it. The market is tough and you don't have a backup. Worst comes to worst, use this to negotiate with Google a d renege later
take it - we're in a bad market, ESPECIALLY for juniors. you can always upgrade salary and jobs later, but if you miss this, you might not get another opportunity right after. I know new grads still unemployed now after a year of search
Don't expect 20% bonus.
Maybe he'll be a rockstar and land 200% rewards day in day out ๐
Wtfโฆ $170k as a new grad TPM? Take that and donโt look back
Starting your career as tpm is a disaster move if you come from technical/CS background. You will see in future companies prefer employees from background with software engineering and no raw TPMs. Also its a very stall kind of role. After TPM there is no growth path. You are stuck.
This is BS. While SW Engineering is helpful experience, TPM has lots of career potential, and at MS can also move laterally quite easily into other disciplines (ex: product, user research, marketing). Switching into a SWE role can be harder after a few years, but in 5 years, AI will have lowered the barrier to entry for SWE roles, especially if you have a technical background. OP - that's a great offer in a tough job climate. Accept it, find a great mentor or two, and I hope you have a great career!
Take it and run. Puts you 5 years ahead of most of your peers.
My l64 offer was 135k base, 40k stock over 4 years no sign on bonus
Damn. When was this?
wow thats a nice offer.
You can accept and decline later, no one will put you in jail
Pretty sure base pay as an apm at Google is 155k-160k so would have been nice to see if u actually got it but nevertheless the offer is still good as a new grad, I would take it and be happy
