I was about to vent out, saw a post by girl who was concerned about hair thinning & crooked teeth in potential partner I told my parents that teeth and hair thinning r the things girls notice first in guys nowaydays ---- I was doing this teeth alignment, and my mom thinks girls don't notice it 😭 😭 She called my maternal grandparents and her sister and everyone forced me to not do this, literally 6, 7 people bashing at me. OP - I am a mom like yours with two kids. You loving your mom does not mean listen to everything she says. Take care of her with a decent life standard and ensure her bills are paid where she never have to work in her life. That is a son’s responsibility. You are confusing that with not having your own life. You get to choose your life, life partner and how /where you want to spend your money. This is your life. Your mom had hers now it is your turn to live yours! I will never want my son to live his life the way I want. If I have raised them well, they will know to make decisions independently to live a good life. My own mom, Where and what I spend money on, I do not ask my mom’s opinion or permission. I do ask her advice when needed though since I do understand she has more life experience than me. Respect parents and love them while having your own backbone! 😊
Wow.. selfish much? My mom only wants me to be successful enough to take care of myself. She never put so much pressure on me to worry about paying her way as well. That kind of pressure could lead to serious mental problems. A real parent just wants their kids to be happy and healthy.
In OP’s case his mom has worked two jobs to raise him and he is in much better place earning way more than his mom. He can easily afford to take care of her expenses. Not everyone is born in a rich family. What you said is true for well off families. Not everyone has that privilege. There is nothing wrong with kids being selfless just like parents did for us.
You earn your own money yet you can’t do Invisalign. Your benefits package literally includes benefits to fix your teeth. Teeth is a really easy way to improve your looks. It also improves health. You don’t need perfect veneers but straight white teeth do a major difference. Also women might not be attracted to you because you are so tied to the apron of your mother you can’t do a simple thing like take care of a pretty standard procedure
I'm earning a lot now, but have seen days of mysery & struggle, it's not a big deal for me but a lot for my mum. Invisalign cost is her annual salary when she was working And I know women will not be attracted to me because & it will be very hard for me to balance wife & mom in future. I'm fully aware I'm fucked up & can do nothing about it
Maybe put aside some money for your mom but start preparing to live your own life. Sounds like you have an emotionally incestuous relationship with your mother and seeing a therapist might help.
