Hello Blinders Currently at G7 at Intel. Getting a level 61 at Microsoft. Does that make sense, or should I ask for 62 ? Had a call with recruiter that I have cleared the interview and will get a offer soon. They asked me my current compensation and expectation and told me its a level61 role. I got g7 at Intel just this year after I started the interview process at msft. TC : 100k YOE : 5yrs with masters Degree #tech #microsoft #Intel

Microsoft lowballs on level based on previous compensation. You need to share your TC and YOE for folks to provide you advise here
Thank you. TC is 100k and 5yrs of experience in software dev. I am based in Europe.
L61 seems right. Were you in a software development role at Intel? What's the tech stack in your new team at MS? Microsoft also lowballs on folks who have to move from low level programming to cloud applications development.
When it comes to offer negotiation, you should never share your current compensation and only tell them on expectation. Recruiters will try to force you on sharing current compensation where you can straight away refuse and ask them to share compensation offered by company based on expectation.
Thank you for the reply. I wasn't aware of this so I shared my current numbers. How much can increment can I expect from them ? I am have also received my appraisal , so can I negotiate more after I receive the actual offer. Currently everything has been discussed on phone only
Where in EU… makes a big difference Germany/UK vs Spain/Hungry
Did you check Levels.fyi yet? The levels equivalent should not matter by geo (the corresponding pay only changes)
