Finished the first round with the hiring manager and panel interview (6 rounds). The HR said the feedback is positive and I’m the first candidate they send for the last round of interview (2 sessions with the director and a senior manager from cross-functional team) Any interview tips for the last round? This is a hardware EPM role in Austin office. TC: 200k (Bay Area) 4 yoe #interview #hardware #apple #austin
Completely normal, most positions have two levels associated. They will rank according to your professional career and level of match wrt the problem the hiring team needs to solve. Best advice is to be honest with your future colleagues, their opinion will influence both the ranking and the hiring decision. It is a social process.
It’s not the interview prep, what I heard is that every org leader has a preset rules and those rules are based on YOE, no matter how much you negotiate those rules are not bending .. this is why you see AI/ML ICT4 with less number of years and other such as COS with more number of years. This is based on what I heard, I might be wrong.
The recruiter said there are 2 levels with the role and they haven’t decided my level yet. The JD doesn’t say yoe required on it either. Is this strange to you?
There might be two levels, most JD have, but those levels are decided based on the rule I posted. You may try negotiating it if you like. JD will never say YOE because of the reason that if your YOE doesn’t match your interview performance then they can give you lower level. If you go on ICT3 or 4, honestly money wise it makes no difference provided you perform good. Let’s do the math, the difference between 3 and 4 in terms of RSU, will be covered by the promo RSU you will get, it may be more too. This can happen in 2-3 years based on you and your manager sync. Your manager can promote you to 4 as he doesn’t have to go to skip for approval. Just my 2 cents.
