Is MBTA and commuter rails safe?

Is MBTA and commuter rails safe? What about late hours and winters. Should one expect crackheads, scary deserted station, mugging? My work is at Westborough and my spouse will be working at longwood medical area. I see Framingham Worcester line as a good commute alternative. How safe is that line in particular Side question: Also any areas suggested to live in. I am looking for an apartment with parking and community feel(rental through agencies instead of landlord). Also no rat mice bed bugs.. #boston #greaterBoston #westborough #mbta PS: mid 30s. Have 1 kid. TC 200K. Prefer to pay 2500 max for 2bd 1.5+ bath More family oriented areas preferred.

Yup, super safe. Your best bet is living in Brookline. Coolidge corner is pretty fun and on the green C Line.

Very safe. Orange line during the day has a few people clearly passed out from opiates on occasion, but they are harmless. This isn’t SF, although one bad winter and you might wish it was! Good areas to live (if you have 150k+ TC): - Brookline - Somerville - Cambridge - South Boston - Arlington Note that getting out of Boston can be messy, you’ll have long commutes to Westborough if you choose Brookline or South Boston.

Brookline is the best bet for his wife (long wood) and his work location. Cambridge has gotten so expensive and parking is a pain in the ass. Somerville is getting there, but I feel you’d get more value in Brookline bear Coolidge corner. South Boston(southie) too far and Arrington is.... lol

The OP is going to have a nightmare commute if they live in Brookline. Yes, their partner will have it easy, but Brookline to Westborough...yikes. Wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Arlington has easy ways to get downtown, and instant access to rt 2 via car for getting to Westborough if the OP drives. Also Coolidge is where wealthy people fresh out of college hang out. It’s not a great place if you’re 30+, but the OP does not specify. This is why I’m giving options instead of weirdly shilling one specific location.
