Thinking of starting a company that automates the entire layoffs process removing all human interaction. The layoff process would be made interactive with the impacted getting to work with a LLM chatbot trained on company HR data to provide separation information, forms , emotional counselling , light jokes to ease the mood , outplacement services and legal support. What does the group feel on the product market fit ? I see strong adoption and engagement potential. #severance #layoff #AI
"Hi, I'm the LLM that will guide you through your layoff as a result of my cousin LLM making you redundant" 😂 Jokes aside, there is an entire layoff industry so market potential is there. It's worth the shot to see where it lands.
It just feels more inhuman to tell you the truth.
Why would companies invest into the ones they are letting go? They don't give a shit and will do bare minimum for them. The only priority is to cover ass on the legal front - your llm bot might mean unnecessary risk on this front. Instead, If you're interested in this area, focus on HR support for current employees.
Yeah I totally agree with this. I would be too worried about the legal risk if the LLM says the wrong thing. Did you see the “hack” where someone got LLM to “legally commit” to selling a brand new car for $1? You don’t want that kind of liability risk in laying off people.
100% on this. Risk, Impersonal etc (when they send layoff emails, they like to pretend they had no foresight) but if they get caught investing in a tool months before major layoffs thats not a good look no one would do a case study for you, no way for people to collect feedback from end users (employees) how was your layoff experience?? I dont think so. How about the first certified LLM real estate agent that only takes a 1% fee?? Plugs into MLS does the legal paperwork, surfaces the right properties etc. Far more TAM.
Lighthearted Layoff Mastermind
Read the short story called "Manna". It's all about that.
LLM for president
Why do you think an LLM needs to exist for this? If companies want no contact they can send an email
But it removes the interactive nature of the process which I want to bring back. It appears too one sided now with one way comms
As someone who went through a layoff, this would make me angry. I don't care to be interactive with the company that just laid me off. Having a human tell me to my face was much better than getting an email and much better than talking to a machine.
