What would happen to arrested F1 students because of protesting for ceasefire?

A friend got arrested for 11 hour and the police released her after they collected her contacts including passport information. Not sure if it would be risky to travel in the summer.

Don’t play the racist card with me. I am not white. She should be deported

She didn’t ask before she joined the protest?

Microsoft workwalk OP Apr 25

There’s no law preventing students from protesting, right?

Intuit analysis d Apr 25

The police would have charged with something else like trespassing.

Ask a lawyer not Blind morons

Immigration lawyer to be specific.

She will be fine. She will need to keep the documents with her showing that they were arrested for a peaceful protest. Including news articles. Ask her to take screenshots and save to a drive now. She will probably need that proof in future. Get the police reports, everything she can on this. The more the better. Better if she doesn’t exit the country until the case is closed. She can get the police reports once case is closed.

She just stayed in the camp with her boyfriend for several nights, nothing violent, so it should be fine?

Intuit analysis d Apr 25

I don’t know what camp. Private property, public. What is she charged with, the police report will tell. And then it depends whether they prosecute or not. Whether she is found guilty or not. Even if found guilty, I don’t think it’s a big deal. Ask her not to have kids before having green card so that she is not stuck outside US without kids.

USCIS has little tolerance for this kind of behavior under non immigrant visas. It will be hard to obtain additional paperwork in the future. When you are a guest in a foreign country, you usually shut your mouth, abide and keep a low profile to optimize your chances of integration in the future.

Protest is also a way to integrate into society, no?

Capital Group Qlaa04 Apr 25

It depends on the type of charges, this is not a moral-turpitude crime, most likely a misdemeanor. While you are in a US or for that matter any other country you have all the constitutional rights, peaceful protest is one of that. I wish she gets deported but that’s not happening. Filth will stay.

Deport the crap.
