https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-twitter-staff-expect-80-hour-work-weeks-report-2022-11%3Famp Elon Musk is getting rid of free lunch and WFH and force people to work overtime. Will he succeed or fail? I know countries like China is famous for their 9-9-6 work culture, basically 9am - 9pm 6 days a week. Also investment banking in the west has similar work culture.
Is this not in violation of any labor laws? But I would rather die than work 80 hours on a social media platform.
Not in violation if employees are exempt or hourly and compensated for hours over 40 worked. This is a regular practice for a lot of companies and workers.
TIL Yikes.

I think he'll quickly realise that a social media company is different than his other ones
Elon is cheap and won’t pay up for what good engineers will expect working 996 on the bird app
I bet Twitter will file for bankruptcy in a year
that could very well be the point …
Meta's insensible spending? Did it succeed or is it succeeding? No. A middle ground is probably the answer.
Support Elon
How does anyone know how many hours people actually work ? There are numerous metrics you can track - badge scans, computer activity, video footage, etc. - but none of them tell you numbers implied by the statement and all can be gamed. Wall clock != work time.
Meta is known for being a demanding environment but they also made some of the industry's biggest offers and 60 hours/week was the most I ever heard about. Even if they doubled the pay, who at Twitter is going to put their life on hold to work 80 hours when you could just a job somewhere else? Elon is so disconnected.
It was 40 hrs. When it became 80?
Elon opened both eyes. So it just doubled
It’s business insider, so you have to cut that number in half.
