Someone has to be really really dumb to vote liberal in todayās world
Just curious what everyone's thoughts were on improving my ability to get interviews or open new opportunities as a product manager. I have 1.5 yoe as a PM and came over from a customer facing mildly technical role that was self taught. 6 yoe in tech. I have made good measurable impact in my role on a saas product. I have no degree but have considered going back to school. Id have to pick between 6ish years of community college transfer to 4yr since I will work full time or a online degree from a low tier school in maybe 2 years. Otherwise I'm thinking how do I ensure I get past ats/recruiters/first pass to get in front of hiring managers? Certifications? Training? #pm #product #productmanager #help #sap Tc 150k T3
Experience is itās own degree. Depending on what you want to do next I would suggest some general certifications. CSPO and some other product manager related certification I took the 10-week general assembly course when I initially transitioned and it was a good to learn the basics and put on my resume. After your experience in product management, the aim of the ācollege degreeā is just to cross the recruiterās initial scan of the resume and make it to the interview Consider enrolling in smaller 6 months course from Stanford/CMU/etc that you can put on your resume for that initial scan. Unless you are motivated to go back to school and have enough time to commit to āirrelevant coursesā in college, I really think 6 yrs / 4 yrs / 2nd tier colleges are not worth it Save and invest in a product management related masters or MBA when u feel they might help unblock your career advancement.
