Part of a team where managers are polarised towards some people in the team. Others get no credit and their hard work and effort never get appreciated. They played some dirty tricks to manage out some of the top engineers of the team by some dirty politics on the resource (HC) management side by tagging their name to some deprioritised projects. This situation was very disturbing and I was suffering with survivor guilt. Did not like my day to day work and my toxic managers and hence decided to leave Google for personal aspirations. I was doing well on my day to day work amid all the micromanaging was meeting the micromanaging requirements of code, sprint throughput etc. Manager was aligned with my performance and career trajactory. The moment I dropped my paper and told my manager about leaving, my manager just switched side. Before leaving the company my manager told me my performance was not good and I am not meeting expectation anymore and might get referred for lower ratings which will harm my chances of coming back in future if needed. Do not trust the assholes on social media, youtube and linkedin faking the great Google culture and "Googlyness" as these PR stunts are just for side hustles and extra income since they know they are not expecting any further career grown and annual hike at Google anymore. The culture is dead and now we are filled with such jerks. There people have been in the company for ages, have become so rusty and hence can not clear interviews elsewhere. Hence they are playing hunger games with reports so that they can draw some more paychecks to retire. This is hell and I do not give a fuck what my rating will be after I leave since I do not want to be part of this shit place. Best of luck OpenAI and RIP Google. #Google #FAANG #MAANG #LinkedIn #Youtube #OpenAI <3 #tech
Sounds a lot like Amazon. Are your managers ex Amazon?
No. Google is adhering to the same culture. Forced attrition. Unfortunately there are no transparency and managers have too much control over the decision.
Looks like I dodged a bullet after all. If Google is the new Amazon we're all f*cked up.
Asian managers .. they take it to a different level
Sounds like Microsoft lol
Location? Org?
It's the same everywhere these days.
