AWS vs OCI

I have 3 years of H1B pending and I-140 not yet filed. I have heard Amazon’s PERM processing is paused is it safe to take risk with 3 years remaining? Piped at Bytedance

It’s not. Get your I-140 at Bytedance if you can. If you can’t, join Amazon. Oracle is career suicide.

What do you mean career suicide at Oracle?

Yes please explain, I was planning to jump to OCI

Statistically speaking, most people don't stay at amazon for more than 18 months, so that's a consideration for you to account for even more than pay.

Why would anyone want to work for Amazon is beyond me 🤷‍♂️

I went from AWS -> OCI. Can’t speak on PERM stuff, but AWS > OCI both in headache and TC. OCI is super annoying. It’s team dependent though, if you can ask AWS team about WLB , on call etc and if it seems bad tell recruiter you’d like to switch teams for offer. Usually possible

Oracle catlover6 3d

If OCI is some dream team etc. could be worth it but I’d rather find a comparable AWS team and make more TC. If AWS team seems horrible then 🤷‍♂️

It’s Aurora team in AWS and Identity team in OCI

Which team is dream team in OCI?

Oracle is still good and has outlasted all the database companies over years. It's not great but it makes money.
