I recently applied in sharechat and cleared 4 technical round and reached to hiring manager round. Hiring manager was so so so arrogant. For one complete hour he did nothing but tell me that he is better than me and I know nothing. Everything I answered he said this is wrong, this is Also wrong and he even said in the interview that he is from IIT Bombay CSE. I was like what is going on and then he rejected me saying I don't have good knowledge of technology and all. I was really happy that I didn't get selected because working under that manager will be like dying. #baderrutter #shrechat
What I experienced in India is it's very difficult to work with IITians. They think they're entitled ones and people from other colleges are dumb. Pathetic behavior
Actually I myself am from IIT Roorkee CSE. Maybe few people start thinking themselves as superior after getting into IIT and all but I personally believe it doesn't matter where are you from what matters is how much experience you have on technology and how passionate you are about it.
My personal experience, people with Indian startup’s and especially when they come from elite background get into this arrogance loop. This is because there is no culture check on them, no one to enforce great ethics, especially US/European people to work with who are more grounded. I have seen similar reviews of Paytm, Udaan and few others online. No surprise!
Who was this?
Some people treat interviews as a power tripping opportunity.
OP post his initials
Can totally beleive Op I had similar experience with them, interviewed few months back 1st round (DS Algo) - They gave an array problem and said straightaway to solve in linear time and no space, I asked if there are any contraints etc, didnt get any, After thinking a bit i said i have an nlogn approach and i dont think its possible in N Interviewer kept quite, then i said if we have this constraint then only its possible in N i think, he responded after a minute that yes yes we have that constraint 2nd and 3rd (design rounds) were ok and went well HM round was total BS, similar to Ops, he pressed hard on the fact that he is from IIT which helped him to get to top quickly. He kept saying that you dont have startup experience(even though i had 1), he said we work differently than other startups and all(which is ok), but he did sound arrogant I asked him few general questions about sharechat at the end, which he didnt answer clearly Maybe i did some mess up which i am not able to figure out, but i think it was a total waste of time
Maybe the VP needs to know this, the one who posts on LinkedIn everyday!
He keeps singing praises about his company's interview processes and that he cares so much candidates' experiences. OP, let him know about this and report back on what he does.
All of that is just a gimmick, to show to the outside world that 'sensible' people are there in ShareChat. Don't get me wrong, people may be good there, but I've observed that wherever there's too much marketing or show-off, that place is a no-go, mayn't be that good for career.
