Pros - LinkedIn offer came in at 15K over current FB base (plus LI in also offering 450K RSU) .. given that i only have a year left at FB b4 initial stock grant completes, this might be good. Cons - the group is not that great (EPE) , refreshers might be tight, and E5 to Staff, is pretty much a lateral move based on levels.fyi. Context: I don't have any issues with FB.. infact i have a great WLB, love my group, align with FB well and am happy here. Any reason for jump would be monetary.. worth it ?
What's your offer break down? 450k RSU is pretty low. Shoot for 700k instead.
thank you, appreciate you taking the time to share the insights.
Is this a Tooling team/org at LinkedIn ?
Enterprise productivity
Tech stack at FB vs LI? What do you use rn and what would you be using?
LinkedIn wlb is not great these days
Dev tools are better at FB but LI has unlimited vacation and rarely pips people - I’ve never seen it happen.
- If you are on-track for E6 at FB, then stay at FB - If you *were* on-track for E6, you wouldn't have mentioned LinkedIn's $450K RSU offer, because you'd already be getting more at FB - You will not jump as a recently-promoted FB E6 to LinkedIn sr. staff. Doesn't happen. Take the job if you like it / want a change of pace. There's no other information suggesting this is a scope increase, or that there is boomerang potential. You didn't specify salary, but the offer looks mid-level.
Linkedin WLB is awesome, bye bye PSC. I used to work at FB. DM if you have any questions
I had an unrelated question. Can I DM as well
EPE team builds internal products, some of which do not see the rollout. Also Linkedin does not have a frequent refresher, so if you have high TC due to appreciation, don't expect Linkedin to give you extra refresher. There's a lot of discussions about peanut refresher at Linkedin internal channels. Overall, the work is chill, lots of sand baggers, things move slowly here, it's good if you have kids and want to relax. I would not leave if you are already happy at FB.
I was a long time lurker, but do really appreciate each and everyone of you taking the time. So when i mentioned extra 125K, my math was simple - but wrong. simple because i am at year #3 at FB, so in 2022, i would have finished up my 4 year vest. hence i was getting tempted. This math was wrong because i was not considering that FB will (hopefully) give refreshers - which may not be 125/year but even if they are 50/year, i am still only losing 75K per year. Which in the *larger scheme of things* may not be enough justification to leave FB AI & join LI EPE.
I am targeting linkedin specifically for my career jump. Can I DM you with one or two questions?
Dude you're all over the place. FB gives refreshers every single year. Last year, the E5 refresher was 138k, so even if your initial grant runs out, you should still have more than 450k RSU unvested with your stacked refreshers assuming you've been at E5 long enough. What I think you're referring to at 50/year is AE/DE, which you may or may not get. But even without that, it seems like FB refreshers will match if not exceed your Linkedin offer.
Offer Numbers or GTFO
Sorry my aapl friend, there are LI recruiters around, and it's impolite + not fair to them if i do that, i am happy to share them with you on DM if you'd like.
