Joe Biden has to drop out
I have lived in places all over the US and experienced temperature as low as -40 F to 120. Never have I experienced any outage, even in the worst possible conditions. In austin, a mild ice storm with half inch ice took my power out for four days ! And looks like 10% of the residents won't get power back until Feb 12! What a joke. Some of the busiest traffic signals are out of order, local police are not even helping out with those. In summer, temperature touches 100 F barely and ERCOT is warning about possible blackouts. Considering this place is as costly as seattle nowadays, the infrastructure is worse than college towns. Leaving this place as soon as I can. #housing #austin #infrastructure #blackout
These southern states hate government but sure do love its money :^)
when a hurricane happens and devastates its towns, please give me socialism and government funding. if another state asks for it, republicans from TX vote it down
Lol.. this makes the people of CA look like suckers. We pay all that money in taxes and still lose power when summer comes unexpectedly. Not to mention the $400+ heating bills in winter.
stop voting for republicans in TX. they fail to invest in people. all they do is grift and make ERGOT and big businesses richer
Haha texas cities are stuck in a weird state. The majority voter base for republicans is west texas, so definitely the funding goes there. Austin necessity will always be superseded by football stadium construction in small farming towns of west texas
So TX is basically like CA. Except you get to keep your own money.
I don’t think Austin is as expensive as Seattle , but a week without power is insane
People in liberal states live their whole lives without power
It's almost as expensive
Austin IS a small college town that was never designed for the influx of people. It’s going to take a while to scale up. While not perfect, Houston and Dallas have much better infrastructure and logistics. Houston also doesn’t have the same heat/ice that inland Texas has. The hurricanes are few and far between.
These are the reasons people move to Texas. It's hot most of the time, and the government leaves you be. Are you planning to move back to socialism?
Look at it this way: you’re saving tens of thousands of dollars compared to sfbay on housing, taxes and services. Invest some of them to install a generator in your home and show fat MF to the local infra.
You pay less in taxes and get less infrastructure, who knew 🤷♂️
Welcome to Austin
