Invented the core tech behind LLMs (transformers) but not able to cash in with product innovations or nowhere close compared to OAI You could well say the same about cloud computing (Google led the way for the core tech - Internet scale distributed systems, but AWS made all the $$$ for commercializing infra)
When you hire leetcode monkeys that's what you get
This
@LinkedIn, you sound like someone who was rejected from Google. People here are not Leetcode monkeys, most of our questions test only the fundamentals of core CS topics. It says a lot if you canât answer a basic question about a linked listâ itâs one the fundamental data structures and underpins many of the objects your interact with that are less âtheoreticalâ.
Youâre giving too much credit for Google wrt cloud computing.
I agree with this
So much hate for google these days !!!
Theyâve missed the boat on a lot of markets for tech that they pioneered including distributed file systems and no-sql databases (Big Query vs Hadoop), build systems (bazel vs gradle), cloud computing (where AWS and Azure ate their lunch even though they had the technology years in advance). I would say theyâre closer to Kodak than Xerox. They arenât part of a dying market (yet), they are more hamstrung by theyâre cash cow (search advertising) at the expense of diversifying their revenue streams. Much the way Kodak was in the 90âs with film, even though they had invented digital photography a decade or more earlier.
You mean they have missed boat on everything except search đ
They were market followers in search, not pioneers. Yahoo, Excite, Alta Vista, Lycos, MSN all existed as search before them. Google just happened to make the best one in the end.
I've preferred the results I get from Bard compared to OpenAI.
Google hired losers from other big tech and fell into this mess đ
