Hello all, I've decided to leave SAP, and I was wondering what the best way to tell my manager the news is. This manager was honestly one of the nicest people I've ever met, and given the current dynamics of the team, I know that my sudden departure would be not be ideal for them. How do I let them know in the most respectful way possible? I gave them the impression I would be staying much longer, so I know they won't be too happy to hear this. I don't think there is any way I can tell them without making them upset, but still want to leave in as good terms as possible.
It’s just business, not a family. Do what’s best for you but be nice about it. No good manager will begrudge you for leaving for better opportunities and they will always leave the door open for you to come back. If SAP can’t compete on comp it’s their problem not the manager’s.
Be respectful and humble, everyone will understand. If they don't understand then you just know that it's better to leave a place with those kind of people
Next 1-1, “hey just wanted to start by saying I’ll be submitting my two weeks notice” done
How do you find such kind of managers?
Show gratitude and he empathetic. Be honest and he your true self.
Just be honest and be straightforward. Be grateful like everyone says. Leaving a nice manager is hard.
