San Francisco is an overpriced shithole and there's increasingly fewer reasons to live here. How is Austin in terms of CoL, tech jobs, culture, dating, diversity, food, entertainment, politics, future growth, and how does it compare to cities like LA, Seattle, Portland, NYC, San Diego, Phoenix?
San Diego. It's what California was supposed to be.
It's hot as hell and very humid too.
This is an extremely common question, you should be able to find an endless supply of answers with a Google search.
I have no idea why people like Austin so much. I visited a couple of times, there’s that one street with all the bars and then that Barton springs thing which is pretty disgusting considering the number of people in it. Aaaand that’s it! A few other things that you can find in pretty much any big-ish city.
Yep. Overrated
Austin sucks now because of northern Californians moving there.
Yeah, that's what happened in Seattle too. Too many whiny Californians.
Hot as shit.
Dallas is better. If you know where to hang.
Maybe you should search Blind before creating duplicate posts.
Austin is a small city, it's not as big as the other metropolitan areas you mentioned. Traffic probably in the same scale as SF, though better than LA/NYC, used to be lot better 7-8 years ago. House prices are getting expensive, it's not 3/4 times cheaper in Austin anymore, probably more like half or so. No state taxes that's a plus. But if you are outdoorsy you won't like it in Austin.

I see Austin becoming a new hub soon. Have bunch of friends who moved to Austin recently. I have been to Austin couple of times. The city got the vibe.
