Weird sudden propaganda against EVs
“Too many companies bet on having a cut-throat, high-pressure, take-no-prisoners culture to drive their financial success. But a large and growing body of research on positive organizational psychology demonstrates that not only is a cut-throat environment harmful to productivity over time, but that a positive environment will lead to dramatic benefits for employers, employees, and the bottom line. Although there’s an assumption that stress and pressure push employees to perform more, better, and faster, what cutthroat organizations fail to recognize is the hidden costs incurred.” https://hbr-org.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/hbr.org/amp/2015/12/proof-that-positive-work-cultures-are-more-productive
I’m not sure the reason they won’t change is because they know it’s working. At least I hope not.
There are away two ways to motivate employees, fear or hope. Amazon, Facebook and netflix have mastered the game of fears, why would they change? People going to these companies are well informed of what comes with the offer letter. If Amazon is ready to pip you from day 1, then you should be ready to jump onto a better job from day 1.
The only reason this works is because of those folks on visa.
I disagree. Only in the US you have the H1B slaves. In the other countries, where everyone has the perfect freedom, they are still come into these companies to prove themselves, like me, for example. The difference is that, I'm ready to jump the ship anytime, and couldn't care less about pip or focus
frankly I am pro-communism and universal income/wealth redistribution but I’d like to point out that it’s not the same people bragging about TC who are complaining about PIP
Churn and burn works baby. Why do you think your shares vest over four years and you're worked to the bone? If you don't stand out you're fungible and it's better to find someone fresh and enthusiastic. Different cultures work for different business models. Tech has found the right way of extracting value out of people for it's purpose.
No one at FB or Netflix cries at their desk. Amazon is an exclusive party of 1.
Then why do you work for Amazon. I know it’s not for the pay
OP likes the pip culture.
In my experience, Amazon’s offers have always been way better than Microsoft. Microsoft’s pay sometimes was almost a joke.
