Montreal: YOE 2-3 need advice for job search/applications

Need advice from smarter people than me. Judging by TC, jobs where you work and life decisions, that should be the grand majority of you. Life in Montreal is fine but being in Quebec is garbage. Rising costs, constant racism and xenophobia if you're not "Quebecois Pure Lain", garbage healthcare, the weather, etc. Stuck here until my gf finishes her PhD. She needs to be at proximity of the school so I can't physically move if company pulls a "Return to the office" move. This is making me super anxious to apply outside of Montreal. If you know of companies that have thoroughly accepted WFH model, on paper, and accepts Canadians, please don't hesitate to mention them! No consultancy firms. YOE: 2.5 TC: 85k (/w Bonus+RSP) Position: Full-Stack Intermediate Software Dev So far, for the highest (non-FAANG) TCs in Montreal I got in order: 1. Hopper (130k+) 2. Unity Technologies/WealthSimple/Salesforce (120k+) 3. Shopify/Health Source Group (115k+) 4. Expedia/ManyVids (110k+) 5. Coveo/Zendesk/DRW/SAP (105k+) Any companies I'd be missing? Thank you so much your help, it genuinely means a lot. #jobs #tech #poor #young #help #software #canada #depression #house

There are many start’s up that hire remote workers in North America. Try meta if you interested

In Canada they’re hiring remote

I remember a couple of years ago, Autodesk was one of the top paying places in town. But your best bet is to get a WFH position, because unlike Toronto or Vancouver, locals are more attached so less likely to move to the US, which makes it that companies can afford to pay less for engineers. You'll pay more in taxes than if you were in BC, Ontario or Alberta but at least you'll get cheaper rent.

From what I got their salaries completely STAYED like it was a couple of years ago. Completely plateau'd so I'm avoiding that company. I'm trying to avoid applying to companies and go through 4 rounds to interviews only to find out 80k/y is their cap. I don't think the higher taxes is worth the cheaper rent given the -35C winters I'm going through :/

Just a heads up, those DRW numbers are off. I’m not sure how old are they. For 2-3 yoe, you can get about 135k+ TC

I used to work at DRW MTL. Your salary is unusually low. I was at 125k TC, 105k base when I left. 85k-90k base is what is given to new grads. Apply to: Bolt Stripe Wayfair Wish Meta Tower Research Ramp Brex Chime Plaid Reddit Twitter Google Amazon Instacart All of these companies should give you about 150k base minimum. Current TC is 300k (175k base + paper money)

That's an amazing list thank you for the advice. I heard bad things about Tower Research though.
