I interviewed with meta for a M1 position and got a positive rating from the hiring committee. They started the team match and gave me initial numbers around 550k tc which seems low for the bay area according to levels.fyi. I am interviewing elsewhere as well but no offers in hand yet. What is the best way to get FB to up their offer? Thank you in advance Current TC: 278k base - 325k rsu per year
If you search on blind threads here current meta offers are about 15 to 20 pct lower than 2022 peak levels
Is it that bad?
Is it that bad?... not sure where you have been, but that's the reality of the current employment market. All compensation in tech in general is lower than the last couple of years.
SWE? Then this is definitely a low-ball if tier 1 or 2 city. What's the breakup of 550?
The best way is to have competing offers. Try to interview at several companies at the same time
I would be surprised if they wouldn’t at least match your current comp if you shared it with them. I personally would take it if they match, meta comp long term has much better tragectory because of how they do refreshers. I’m pretty sure you can get a signing bonus too if you negotiate?
What is a reasonable sign on to ask? How generous is meta with refresh? At Oracle we only give to 3/10 in each review cycle. The size of the refresh aren't good but aren't bad either.
At meta everyone gets a refresh. I think the base IC6/M1 is 250k over 4 years and you get it every year so it stacks on your starting comp. It’s also pretty easy to get the next rating higher which is 25% more, and there are further ratings that are harder. For sign on if you ask for anything I would say at least 100k, maybe 150k
How long did it take to hear back after the interview? You can push it to 700 recurring with competing offers
They got back to me about 10 days after my last interview.
Congratulations OP, I have my M1 interview in 5 days. Can I dm please?
Congrats. I failed due to some issues during coding round. =/ Can I Dm you for experience for rest of rounds?
Does M1 have coding as well? Do you mind sharing how many rounds were coding?
Yes they have coding. Would love to tell you had I passed the coding phone interview lol. Aas LC easy, I just had technical issues which stressed me out cause it's timed...and then I went blank and choked. I'm a manager last 8 yrs. I code occasionally and wasn't prepared to coxs under pressure sadly. So back to the LC grind so it doesn't happen again.
I got a lower offer than expected in 2021 and just told them I wasn’t excited about it and that I was expecting offers from other places imminently because I was interviewing at Amazon Kuiper (which I did get but it was a week later). They ended up coming back within a day, bumping the salary by about 10% to exceed my previous salary by a few percent and stock by 25%. That put the offer inline with Levels for my role and location. You should also ask for a signing bonus that’s at least roughly equivalent to the next vest period you are walking away from.
May I know are you at Manager level already at Microsoft? Curious to see whether one can switch to entry level manager , from being an IC (senior) at other company?
That is what I was planning on doing given I am still interwing with others. I can stay put until I see an offer I want although I think having Meta on my resume would be beneficial for later. Because oracle stock has appreciated a lot, asking for a sign on to offset it might be impossible. I probably need to settle for far less.
OP, what’s your YOE and how many years as Manager? Or are you jumping from IC role to Management?
What position are you in at oracle ?
I am a director engineering M4
How big is your group at Oracle ? It’s sort of a downlevel
