Referral Sniffing 🐷 John Pork

John Pork here from the class of 2023, was with Meta last internship but most people weren't converted so after graduation I joined a research job, was being paid at 40 USD an hour. Worked that for 8 months and left after my contract was up and decided not to renew. Looking to get back in after a gap of 5 months from my last job doing research, have been job hunting with no luck. Currently applying to SWE and Data Science roles (both early career obviously). I'm looking for referrals as well as advice, no idea what I'm doing wrong at this point. Even when applying with referrals I haven't heard anything back or have been rejected. Could it be my background? Or is it just how I'm presenting myself? I'm good at LC, just can't get to the interview stage now it seems.
